Tether / Sales Enablement
A platform can work and still create friction
A sales platform can be technically functional and still make products harder to sell.
A product may be available in the system without being easy to discover, understand, compare, or remember. When that happens, the immediate reaction is often to replace the platform.
But the platform may not be the real problem.
Availability is not the same as discovery.
The Missing Layer
Build a better way into the system
In one multi-brand sales environment, a B2B marketplace remained necessary for transactions while limiting how products could be surfaced to retail buyers. Replacing it would have disrupted an established ordering process without solving the underlying discovery problem.
The answer was to build a better way into it.
The Drop introduced a weekly digital merchandising layer around the marketplace. The existing platform continued processing orders. The new layer handled what it was not designed to do well: create visibility, organize the product story, and give buyers a timely reason to act.

The Corollary
Is the platform helping the buyer decide?
This problem extends beyond one industry. It appears wherever companies depend on distributor catalogs, retailer menus, dealer portals, procurement systems, or third-party marketplaces.
If products are technically available but difficult to find or understand, the platform may not need to be replaced. The customer journey may simply be missing a layer.
